the open source software is development method for software that harnesses the power of distributed peer review and transparency of process, better quality and lower cost.It is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-source development and often compared to user-generated content. The term open-source software originated as part of a marketing campaign for free software. A report by Standish Group states that adoption of open-source software models has resulted in savings of about $60 billion per year to consumers.

my opinion on this is that the source software is good if we give it to good use, because first is public and is free not have to pay for updates and people can participate in them, for example in wikipedia, people can change and may to help people posting good content but it sometimes also formed to problems when they are not given the bue use, because people trust what is under investigation and the information that is accessed and is often bad information.
